About SCS

Sanborn Christian School officially began as an incorporated and approved school by the State Board of Education in 1917.  However, prior to the organization of this Christian day school, summer classes were held beginning in 1914 in the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church.  In 1917 an addition was buit on the south side of hte church to serve as a classroom.  In 1918, it was necessary to have another classroom so a basement room was used for this purposed.  This arrangment continued for three years.

In 1921, a new two room school building was erected.  Classes were held in the two room school until 1944.  During the Depression the school's existance was threatened, but despite many trials and hardships the Christian school remained.

In 1957 the building of the a new school began and the first classes began in the new building in 1958.

The first kindergarten classes began in the basement of the Christian Reformed Church in 1967 with 15 students in the class.

Today, Sanborn Christian School enrolls 90 students from Preschool to 8th grade in the same building that held students back in 1958.
